Our Mission

    The mission of the Dr. Abraham P. Cano Freshmen Academy Information Literacy Center (ILC) is to ensure that the school community are effective users of information and to instill a lifelong love of reading and learning. 

    Our Goal

    The goal of the Information Literacy Center (ILC) is to help all students become life-long learners by providing services, technology and resources to enhance patron usage and effective classroom instruction. 

    ILC Hours

    Monday-Friday           7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 


     Besides the ever-growing collection of fiction and nonfiction print and e-books, the ILC offers desktop computers, laptops, tables, collaboration stations, Wi-Fi, as well as printers and scanners available for your next school project. Copy machine services are also available for $0.10 per page. 

    Destiny Library Catalog (card catalog), MackinVia (electronic databases), and E-Books can be accessed by clicking on the icon to the right of this screen or by going to the Website under ILC and then clicking on Virtual Library. 
    Flipster is a digital magagine service that is provided courtesy of the campus library to selected magazines such as Girls' Life and Sports Illustrated.  Flipster can only be accessed by clicking on the Flipster icon located to the right of this screen.  Flipster can not be accessed through the Virtual Library.
