Currently,6th grade boys are covering football and 6th grade girls are covering volleyball.Health lessons are incorporated in the class once a week. The main focus ofthe pre-athletics program is to provide students with a preview of upcomingUIL sports which they will be eligible to participate in next year. The pre-athleticclasses teach values that include: sportsmanship, responsibility, andleadership, participation within rules, performing under pressure, physicalwell-being and team work. The pre-athletics program is an integral part of the total school educational program.Physical education is a component of education that challenges students byproviding opportunities to attain the skills and knowledge to be physicallyactive as part of a healthy lifestyle. Regular participation in physical activitywill allow students to develop a pattern of life-enhancing and self-rewardingexperiences that contribute to their potential to be healthy members of society. The students have expressed that they enjoy the class because they areexperiencing activities that go beyond their experiences in a regularphysical education class.
