Will special populations take the STAAR?
The STAAR is available in a variety of formats to serve students who are in the special education program or who are English language learners (ELL).
Accommodations are changes to materials or procedures that enable students with disabilities or ELL to participate meaningfully in learning and testing. It is important to keep in mind that while some accommodations may be appropriate for instructional use, they may not be appropriate or allowable on a statewide assessment. See TEA’s Accommodation Resources page for more information.
Accommodations such as extra time to complete exams and oral administration are available to students who meet the criteria. Contact your child’s school for more details.
