    Dual Enrollment Option - The dual enrollment option allows students to earn college credit with courses that have been approved for high school credit. Check with your College & Career Advisor for the latest approved courses since all courses are subject to change without notice.

    Students participating in the Dual Enrollment Program must:

    • Attend a dual enrollment orientation/information session at your high school campus

    • Submit an admissions application on Apply Texas

    • Provide a copy of their high school transcript

    • Sign and complete the "Student Guidelines & Parental Consent" form

    • Take the Texas Success Intitiative (TSI) exam and meet the college-readiness scores in each section (Reading/Writing/Math)

    • Meet with your College & Career Readiness Advisor to discuss your college/career plan

    • Meet with your high school counselor to determine the course(s) you would like to take

    Texas Southmost College is our parterning institution and offers various dual enrollment courses that are valuable towards the Texas Core Curriculum. 

    Students that are enrolling at Cano Freshman Academy as new 9th graders will have the option to take Music Appreciation and Public Speaking for college credit.  Both courses must be taken; students cannot opt to take one only.  

    Students that are transitioning from Cano Freshman Academy to Harlingen HS or Harlingen HS South will have the option to take Psychology, College Algebra & Spanish 3 for college credit, only if they have completed the required pre-requisites and are college-ready by TSI standards.  Please note: Psychology is only offered at Harlingen HS South.  

    Students enrolling at CFA as first-time 9th graders must be clear in READING/WRITING/MATH to take dual enrollment courses.  Students transitioning to HHS and HHSS must meet the following criteria:

    1. College Algebra - (Must be TSI clear in MATH)

    2. Spanish 3 - (Must be TSI clear in READING/WRITING)

    3. Psychology - (Must be TSI clear in READING/WRITING)
