Gabriel Ambriz is an 8th grade, English Language Arts teacher at Coakley Middle School. He was born in Harlingen, Texas. Gabriel lived in Harlingen until completing high school and then moved to Kingsville. While there Gabriel attended Texas A&M University Kingsville where he earned a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in reading and a specialization in education.
Upon graduating from TAMUK, Gabriel then moved back to Harlingen where he received his teaching certificate and began teaching at Harlingen High School. Gabriel then moved to Coakley Middle School. This will be his second year at Coakley Middle School.
Gabriel chose education as his career because it was always second nature to teach someone. Gabriel tutored other students in college as part of his transition into the education field. In addition to this, Gabriel has two older brothers who are also teachers, as well as several relatives in the same profession. It seems as if teaching is a family calling.
Goals for this year will be simple this year. Gabriel hopes to prepare his students for their high school career and give them skills they will need for the entirety of their lives. Gabriel also hopes to improve upon his own teaching methods and continually grow as an educator.
