    HCISD Counseling and Guidance Mission:
The Guidance and Counseling Department in Harlingen CISD is an integral part of the total educational program. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, developmental guidance and counseling program which is vital in the achievement of excellence. All students will be provided the opportunity to develop the academic, social, personal, college and career competencies needed to prepare them for post-secondary options, which includes work, military, higher education, and preparation as productive citizens and lifelong learners.

My Personal Philosophy and Role as a Professional School Counselor:
I believe all students are unique and valuable and deserve to be educated in an environment that values diversity and promotes respect for all walks of life. I believe all students desire to have a purpose, to belong to something bigger and to contribute.  As a professional school counselor I aspire to assist all students in their educational journey through self-discovery, personal growth, realizing their aptitudes and empowering them to be successful beyond high school.  I believe that all students can learn and must have equal access to achieve success and reach their potential in making this world a better place.

I seek to be a leader in creating a positive school climate by fostering community with all stakeholders who have an impact on our student's success.  I promote consultation and collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and the community to incorporate all the resources available for an optimum educational setting.  I am responsible for locating and identifying data that indicate gaps in achievement for particular student groups in order to advocate and create equity for all.  It is my desire to be a catalyst for change to aid in eliminating systemic barriers for all students.  I strive to be flexible and creative in locating and utilizing resources within the school and the community to bring about solutions and ensure that all students have equal opportunity to reach their potential.
