    The School of Health Professions will provide a small learning community for students aspiring to have a career in the medical field. This stand alone academy is proposed to compliment the medical community in Harlingen, Texas while building a strong educational component for future growth in our community.

    Health care is one of the largest and fastest-growing industries in the United    States, currently employing over 14 million people.  Occupations in the Health care industry are wide and varied, providing a diverse array of job opportunities ranging from a Specialized Surgeon to a vital Medical Office Clerk.  Locally, the city of Harlingen is at the pinnacle of the health care industry surge.

    Q. What is QSCB?
    A. With the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), congress authorized the creation of the Qualified School Construction Bond (QSCB) program. This program allows school districts and charter schools to obtain interest-free or very low interest financing to qualified construction projects.

    A. The proposed budget is $13.9 million

    A. The proposed grade levels are 8 - 12.
     
     
    Q. What is the projected enrollment?
    A. Approximately 500-600 students.

    A. Yes.
     
     
    Q. Will opportunities for students to earn program certifications be offered?
