  • Bonham hosts bike safety day

    By Alma Becerra, Bonham Elementary The Annual Bonham Bike Rodeo was held on May 5 in the school gym. The Harlingen Police Department came out and gave the students a detailed lesson on bike safety and how to use their arms to signal turns to traffic.

  • Students serenade mothers over tea

    Bonham Kindergarten teachers and students hosted a Mother's Day Tea on Friday, May 6. In preparation for the special event, the teachers taught their students about good manners and proper etiquette. The students celebrated their mothers by performing a song for them, and then everyone enjoyed delicious tea and sandwiches.

  • S.A.V.E., Bonham Elementary

    Bonham fifth graders recently completed the S.A.V.E. program. S.A.V.E. stands for Substance Abuse Violence Education; S.A.V.E. is a nine week program that addresses topics such as gangs, tobacco and alcohol use, and choices and their consequences. On Monday, May 9, 5th Graders participated in the S.A.V.E. Graduation.

  • 2011 NCDA Winners, Bonham Elementary

    In the fall, Bonham students were encouraged to participate in a poster contest celebrating their drug-free futures and depicting their career goals.The six students who were winners of the “Celebrating My Career Dreams” poster contest at Bonham have also been honored as State Level Winners in the 2010 National Career Development Association Poster Contest.

    The Spring Book fair was held at Bonham Elementary during the week of March 28-April 1st. The theme for this year’s book fair was a Carnival Theme and our librarian Mrs. Rosie Miller did a wonderful job decorating the library for this occasion.

  • Harlingen High School, Bonham Elementary students enjoy learning, fun

    Mentos and Diet Coke made for an interesting combination outside of Bonham Elementary Monday morning.Two Harlingen High School students ran the experiment as part of the elementary school's Science Day. The students from the HHS Science Club dropped the breath-enhancing tablet into the soda, resulting in an explosion that sent suds fizzing across the grass.
