Amber Villalobos saw first hand the impact a high energy, motivated teacher could have on a classroom, she said. When the current, first year fourth grade teacher at Lee Means Elementary in Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District was a high school student at Mercedes High School, she had two teachers from a national teacher recruitment and training organization called Teach for America.

She also brought with her Rafael Carranza, News Reporter for KGBT News Channel 4. Ms. Avila discussed the importance of reading and read Five Little Monkeys to the children.
