  • Determined 3rd grader receives donations for campus basketball program

Jordan Martinez loves to play basketball so much that he was not going to let old, flat basketballs keep him off the court. So, the third grade student and his grandmother did something about the basketballs for the Boys and Girls Club basketball league hosted at his school, Travis Elementary. The pair canvassed local sporting good stores for donations last week, he said. For their efforts, Martinez and his grandmother received donations of six basketballs, two footballs and one soccer ball from the Nike Factory Store in Mercedes and Academy Sports and Outdoors in Weslaco.
