  • Zavala Elementary Students Host Invention Convention

    Zavala Elementary celebrated Benjamin Franklin's birthday with its first Invention Convention on January 17. All students, pre-K through fifth grade, were eligible to submit their inventions prototypes for presentations. The event was hosted as part of the school's effort to increase presentations and projects into its science curriculum. Inventions on display during the event included a taco holder and a neck holder for a Nintendo DSi.

  • Reading is Fundamental Book Distribution Zavala Elementary

    Zavala Elementary welcomed Lt. Anderson, from the Harlingen Police Department, when she stopped by Tuesday Morning for the Reading is Fundamental Book Distribution. Anderson read "Office Buckle and Gloria" and "Paul Bunyan" to the kids and spoke to the children about her career as well as the importance of being a good reader.

    Zavala's TAKS Assembly took place at the school's cafeteria Friday, April 22.The assembly was to encourage 3rd graders to do well on their TAKS.
