Hello, my name is Eleazar Gonzalez. I am the English / ESL teacher at Edna Tamayo House. The students here at Tamayo House come to us from State Schools and from other Transitional Facilities with the Texas Youth Commission from all over the state.

Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District has an agreement with TYC to provide a formal education for these youth while they reside within this district. Our students are assigned courses in the American Preparatory Institute (API) curriculum based on assessment of their transcripts. The work is self-paced.

Our desire is that the youth would use this opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills they will need to function and succeed in their communities.
