     Stuart Place Elementary - 1st Place Harlingen Proud Phone Book recycling contest.Phone books  
     
    Congratulations to Stuart Place Elementary for earning first place in the Harlingen Proud
    Phone Book Recycling contest.  Shown are the top phone book collectors with Mrs. Elledge
    (4th grade teacher and campus organizer), Principal Lara, Assistant Principal Burbach, and Harlingen Proud representative
    Nick Consiglio.  Through the efforts of the students and community, Stuart Place was awarded a check for $300.  Thank you to all the Thunderbirds who contributed to the phone book drive. (25April2014)
     
     
     
     
    On Friday, April 25, 2014, Stuart Place Elementary PTA donated 16 new Dell laptops to the Thunderbird Library.
    In addition to the laptops, PTA purchased $6,000 worth of Accelerated Reader (AR) books.  Earlier in the year PTA
    purchased new canopies for the playground area.
     
    Thank you PTA for all that you for our Thunderbirds!

    Kids Care Club give back
     
    On Thursday, April 17th, members of the Kids Care Club sang songs to members of the Veranda Nursing Home.
    Students and members also had a wonderful time playing board games.

    "Love Our Troops Campaign"

     Thank you to the students, staff, and community for your contributions to AMS.  This non-profit organization sends care packages to Rio Grande Valley military men and women serving overseas.  They also provide coffee and snacks two times a week at the Harlingen VA Clinic.

    Miss Moreno's first grade class collected the most monetary donations.  They earned a class trophy and patriotic caps.

    The competition was held at Memorial Middle School in Harlingen on Saturday, February 1, 2014.

    CONGRATULATIONS DR. NIETO!

     Dr. Sandra Nieto, former Assistant Principal at Stuart Place Elementary was hired at TSTC in Harlingen as the Vice President of College Readiness and Advancement.  Her first day at TSTC began on Monday, February 3, 2014.

    The mission of the College Readiness and Advancement Division is to increase TSTC’s partnerships and collaboration with schools, community-based organizations, local workforce and government agencies to ensure students are college-ready.

    The College Readiness and Advancement Division has more than 20 outreach programs that secure grant money from the local, state and federal government every year.

    Some of the initiatives include the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), Texas Pre Engineering Program (TexPREP) and the Migrant Academic Achievement Residential Summer Program (MAARS).
