Several Harlingen CISD employees have been working on preparing campuses for the new school year.
At Harlingen High School, maintenance tore out a deck that runs along Wing 4. The deck was installed approximately 15 years ago and served as an area for students to enjoy lunch. Taking the deck's place will be a concrete slab that will sit flush with the ground.
At Harlingen South, painters have almost completed the orange and green stripes that run along the campus' hallways. Workers said the new paint, "brightens up the campus," and, "gives it more Hawk spirit." All lockers have been painted and refurbished as well.
The rear entrance gates to the parking lot area have also been repaired by HCISD welders and will receive a fresh coat of paint.
At Sam Houston Elementary, rotting boards located at the front of the campus have been replaced with new lumber.
