Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

Harlingen CISD gives public notice of the district’s intention to apply for the 2023-2024 Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Federal Grant application with the Texas Education Agency.

If any member of the public would like to provide a comment regarding Harlingen CISD’s application for the 2023-2024 ESSA Federal Grant application, they are encouraged to submit their comments to Harlingen CISD on or before June 25, 2023.

The 2023-2024 ESSA grant period will be from July 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024. It is important to note that Harlingen CISD aims to align their grant-funded programs and activities with their strategic plan. By doing so, the district intends to use ESSA funding to support supplemental strategies and activities that are purposeful, data-driven, and evidence-based. The goal is to help students achieve college and career success while staying aligned with HCISD’s Vision, Mission, and Goals.

In accordance with United States Code (USC) Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 70, Subchapter IX, Part C, Section 7846, and Public Law (P.L.) 114-95, Every Student Success Act (ESSA), Section 8306, “any applicant, other than a state educational agency that submits a plan or application under this chapter or act, shall have on file with the state educational agency a single set of assurances, applicable to each program for which a plan or application is submitted. Assurance #7. Before the application was submitted, the applicant afforded a reasonable opportunity for public comment on the application and considered such comment.
