HCISD’s first day of school is September 8. The Texas Education Agency is allowing districts to implement a four-week transition period to reopen schools in response to the varying community health conditions across the state. After careful consideration and discussing plans with multiple layers of the school community including City Council PTA officers and PTA presidents from all the campuses, HCISD has decided to implement this four-week transition into our reopening plans for the 2020-2021 school year.
In this new transition plan, all students will begin school remotely from home on September 8. As mandated by the state of Texas, after the four-week transition of students working remotely, a gradual re-entry of students who wish to return to Face-to-Face instruction will begin on October 5. This new transition plan will allow students to ease into the learning pathways chosen by parents earlier this summer while keeping them safe as we continue to monitor COVID-19 data.
