Harlingen CISD is proud to share that the district has been selected to participate in the inaugural Raise Your Hand Texas Community Leaders Fellowship, a statewide program that brings together community leaders committed to strong public schools and student opportunity.
The Community Leaders Fellowship connects a cohort of Texas communities and organizations focused on strengthening support for students and educators. Through the fellowship, selected participants engage in learning experiences centered on leadership, and community impact, with the goal of bringing new ideas and strategies back to their local communities.
“Opportunities like this strengthen the connections between public education and the communities we serve,” said Dr. Veronica Kortan, Superintendent of Schools. “When districts and community leaders come together to learn, listen, and collaborate, we return stronger and more informed, ready to support the students and educators who make a difference every day.”
Dr. Nolan Perez, HCISD Board of Trustees President, added, “Public schools are at their best when the community remains very engaged. We are proud that HCISD has been selected for this inaugural fellowship, and we look forward to the learning and collaborations that will help strengthen opportunities for our students, families, and staff.”
As part of the fellowship, HCISD will take part in collaborative sessions with partners across Texas, sharing promising practices and learning more about how communities can come together to support public education.
Raise Your Hand Texas is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused on supporting public education across the state through community engagement and policy work. HCISD looks forward to the learning and connections this fellowship will provide and to continuing the work of building strong partnerships that benefit our students, staff, and families.
