No. Your child’s home campus will change due to rezoning. If you wish to remain in the school attendance zone an application is not required.

The gym and cafeteria will be scheduled strategically to ensure all students are accommodated. Different grade levels will have designated times for physical education and meals, allowing for smooth transitions and maximizing the use of these spaces throughout the day.

The district is commited to maintaining a classroom size of 22:1.

Yes, if you would like your child to attend another elementary campus you may apply for open enrollment.

The curriculum will align to the district curriculum. Teachers are trained and will continue to receive professional development to allow them to ensure all students are successful.

Yes, the current practice at all elementary campuses is to hold promotion ceremonies at the end of the 5th grade year. This practice will not change

As with most campuses, special events create “traffic” concerns. Efforts will be made to accommodate parking for our parents during these special events.

Yes. The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District provides Transportation for Eligible Students living 2 or more miles from School under a program which is jointly financed from State and Local Funds.

Parents who have already enrolled at a school that will be unified will automatically have their enrollment switched to a partnering elementary school, based on the new attendance boundaries. These parents also will be notified directly.

Principals of partnering schools are working to begin communicating and welcoming new students by the end of April and then throughout the remainder of the 2025-26 school year.

Crockett and Zavala students will have access to the Boys and Girls Club.

Yes, there will be enhanced opportunities to participate in school programming based on each campus specialty.

Yes, in the coming months several tours will be scheduled for parents to tour your school.

If you registered online, all your child’s information in the system will be automatically transferred.

Yes, all students will continue to receive all services they are currently receiving.

Yes, students who are struggling will have support in the classroom and after school as needed.

Yes, the transition committee will work on a schedule that will allow all of the students and parents to meet the staff and tour the campus.

We will work with both campuses to accommodate all of the students.

If you were approved for Open Enrollment the district will honor the approval.

It is your decision as a parent to decide which campus you would like your child to attend. You may reach out to the campuses to schedule a tour.

The district is studying the traffic flow and the current procedures. We will work with the campus administration to assure there is a plan in place for traffic.

Any student who will need extra academic support will receive interventions in the classroom and after school as needed.

The district is currently studying the Prek3 Program and will expand their partnership with headstart. Once decisions are made they will share the information with the parents.

Teachers will continue to be paid their Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) based on their designation and TEA allotment.

Yes, additional guidance will be provided to teachers as we work with campus administration.

For a number of years, HCISD has followed the state of Texas guidelines of a 22-1 student/teacher ratio to allocate teachers and create class sections in grades PK-4, and a 25-1 ratio in grade 5. Those guidelines would not change.
